How’s Life? – What the OECD says about Australia

A better life

A couple of weeks back the OECD poked a stick at us.

Again. 

You know the drill – high/growing debt; limited housing affordability; exposed banking sector; poor governance; slowing productivity, little wage growth; growing inequality, complacency and expectancy.

Well, to misquote Dylan, “We don’t need a weatherman to tell us which way the wind blows”.

Anyway, that’s what I am here for!

But the OECD – again, telling us something that we already know – thinks that Australia is a bloody great place to live.

If you can afford the rent!

The OCED’s Better Life Index – see our chart below – ranks each member country on 11 quality-of-life measures.

Were out in front of the average on almost all of them – scoring especially well on all those measures that make life worth a damn.

So if you are feeling down, well, we are apparently the best of the comparative bunch.
